CLAIRE 1 of 2: I directed, storyboarded, and animated this shot. Animation performed in Maya. I wanted to portray the transition from being unconscious, to waking up in an alien environment. I wanted the focus to be on the character’s reaction to her environment, with a camera move to reveal the environment, with the final camera angle emphasizing her smallness and vulnerability. Note: I modeled Claire’s body (arms, legs, clothes, accessories) and UV mapped all of her body, clothes, accessories, head, hair, teeth, and eyes.

I acted out and recorded the character performance to use as reference for animation. While animating, I was constantly mindful of weight, weight shifts, holds, ease in and ease out, use of arcs in motion, and other principles of lifelike animation.

CLAIRE 2 of 2: I animated this shot based on a team member’s reference video, exaggerating the moves to emphasize the performance. I also rigged and animated the falling paper and magnets, and added audio from a stock media source.
